Bournemouth-based Drewlec, the electrical services and fire safety arm of The Drewitt Group, has expanded its in-house service portfolio to include fire extinguisher servicing.
Drewlec has invested in a comprehensive training programme to provide its fire maintenance team with the skills to supply, install, service and maintain portable fire extinguishers to the highest British Safety Standards. Paul Davies at Drewlec has worked for the Drewitt Group for 25 years and will lead on fire extinguisher servicing which complements the company’s fire alarm installation and emergency lighting services.
Richard Drewitt, managing director of The Drewitt Group, said: “We’re delighted to bring the servicing of fire extinguishers in-house. Servicing of fire extinguishers is essential. If not properly maintained, employees, visitors and business premises are at a serious risk. Fire extinguishers are the first line of defence when it comes to stopping the spread of a fire, it’s vital that they are kept in working order.
“By law, all fire extinguishers fitted in commercial, public or residential buildings require regular tests and inspections and in order to remain safe, British Safety Standards recommend that they are serviced at least once a year by a qualified technician. We’re pleased to provide our in-house team with the important skills required to carry out this servicing in accordance with regulations.”
