Time to get your boiler ready for winter

As much as we all hate to admit it, summer is on the way out. Colder weather is on the way and it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to keep yourself, your workers, your home or your business warm.

It’s not just homes that need to get their boilers serviced, businesses need to as well. Many office workers tend to crank the heating up as soon as the clocks change – be prepared and you can avoid many potential problems.

Test it

Many don’t realise that the boiler has a problem, until it’s time to turn it on and heat up. Typically, most places turn their heating on during October and if you discover a fault at this point, timely repairs are hard to come by.

Prepare yourself, turn the heating on for a test and see how the system handles it.

Water expands when it freezes which can cause havoc for plumbing and heating systems. Ensure that any exposed pipework is properly insulated in order to not only prevent frost, but to maintain the water temperature and in turn reduce your energy bills.

Temperature zones

Setting up different temperature zones through the business will help to keep your employees comfortable, while still making sure that the building is operating within legal limits and based on what activity is taking place.

For example, if your work is very active, you wouldn’t see much benefit from having the heating as high as you would in the office that handles the paperwork. Making sure that your system runs efficiently will help the boiler maintain operation throughout winter.

Service your boiler

The best way to combat these issues is to arrange a boiler service. Regular maintenance and servicing is one way to help ensure breakdowns are kept to a minimum. We can work with you to develop a regular programme of servicing and maintenance on your boiler, heating and plumbing installations to minimize the inconvenience of breakdowns. For commercial premises gas tightness tests should be carried out on a regular basis to ensure there are no leaks.

Our regular clients also benefit from 24 hour call out services, operating throughout our service areas of central southern England, including Dorset and Hampshire.
